EasyReach: Assistance Alert System for Wheelchair Users

This innovative device, attachable to a wheelchair, sends assistance requests to nearby staff in places like subways and hospitals. It is cost-effective at under 4,000 KRW and offers a signal range of up to 1 km. This ensures prompt help and prevents wheelchair accidents.

Introducing a breakthrough device for individuals in need of assistance: a portable caller that can be carried or mounted on a wheelchair. This innovative device sends a signal to receivers installed in locations where assistance is readily available, such as subways, hospitals, and nursing homes. When help is needed, pressing the button on the caller sends a signal requesting assistance. The signal is received by personnel, who can then promptly provide the necessary help. This system is especially useful in preventing wheelchair-related accidents, such as wheel detachment incidents in subways. Utilizing the Arduino nRF24L01 wireless transceiver module, the device enables one-way communication.

Compared to traditional hospital and restaurant call bells, this invention stands out in several ways:

Affordable Price: While conventional wireless call bells used in restaurants cost around 7,000 KRW each, this invention can be produced for less than 4,000 KRW, including the circuit and wireless module.
Extended Signal Range: Traditional hospital and commercial call bells typically have a signal range of 30 to 50 meters. In contrast, the signal transmission module used in this invention can reach up to 1 km, covering a larger area with fewer receivers needed.
